Cornwall is famed for its delicious cream teas, so it was perhaps only a matter of time before a CBD-themed version reached the region.
Known as CBD High Tea, the afternoon treat is now available in Falmouth, at the Merchants Manor Hotel.
The hotel’s chef – a surfing enthusiast named Hylton Espey – has reinvented the teatime tradition, and it’s a surprisingly healthy alternative to fattening scones and cream. The low-carb, low-alcohol tea has a focus on nutritious, detoxifying ingredients – with no bread in sight. Savoury treats instead comprise:
· Vietnamese cucumber rice paper rolls
· Smoked salmon and spiced crème fraiche on wholemeal blinis
· Roasted beetroot and hemp seed
· Hemp and herb frittata
Meanwhile, those with a sweet tooth will love:
· Sweet potato brownie
· Beetroot and goji torte
· Smoked Manjari chocolate
· Pistachio roll ups
This veritably virtuous feast comes with naturally fermented sparkling tea from Copenhagen, and a low-alcohol CBD cocktail. Not bad for just £16pp, or included in a £49 spa day package which includes a 30-minute treatment and use of pool, steam and sauna facilities too.
